Picture Varnish Mat 24280003
Purpose: Final varnish. Gives paintings a uniform eggshell gloss and protection
Composition: Cyclohexanone resin, turpentine, matting agents (waxes). For spray cans: cyclohexanone resin, white spirit and silicas
Qualities:
- Final varnish, dries in a few hours
- Durable and does not yellow
- Gives an eggshell gloss
- Inhibits the ageing process of oil colours
- Removable with mild solvents
- Can be thinned with white spirit or turpentine
- Apply when paint film has completely dried (6 to 12 months depending on the paint film thickness)
- The gloss can be adjusted by mixing with Picture Varnish Glossy 002
If the varnish has become turbid it can be clarified by putting the bottle in a tray with warm water for some time (this completely dissolves the constituent waxes again)
